Treatments are available. If you experience Heart Burn for longer than 2 days I suggest you start using antacids. Heart Burn common occurs in people of every race, gender and age, even in infants. It normally doesn't go away quickly and you will have to cut back on acidic food types and try to consume more alcalic foods. Interesting enough, Heart Burn can be caused by eating too much acidic food types but it has been established that eating those foods cannot be the sole cause as not every one eating it gets Gastroesophageal Reflux. Some physicians mean to disagree and put the main cause as an unhealthy lifestyle. Other than eating foods that increase stomach acids, the average person is also over weight and eat supper too late in the evenings. Another possible cause could be partly being over weight, or partly being a bed or cushion that leave the head lower than the stomach. Also, it has been found that certain symptoms relate to Gastroesophageal Reflux. Some of which includes Asthma which in turn has also found to be a cause of Gastroesophageal Reflux in some cases. The most common treatment is antacid tablets and but when a case of mild Gastroesophageal Reflux has not subsided within a week, go for a check up at your doctor. In most cases he will prescribe a milder antacid treatment to be taken for a longer period than needed to put the flames out. Mostly to get the patient to heal but in rare cases he might refer you to a surgeon for a minor operation.
